The Don Papa Port Cask commemorates the quincentenary of the earth's first circumnavigation, a monumental voyage that reshaped maritime navigation and history. Five hundred years ago, Portugese explorer Ferdinand Magellan set sail on an epic expedition in search of the elusive Spice Islands. This odyssey marked a pivotal moment in human exploration, symbolising the spirit of adventure and discovery that is so entwined within the inhabitants of Sugarlandia.
This intensely full-bodied expression develops an additional layer of complexity by spending two years maturing in aromatic bourbon casks, before being transferred into rich, ruby-hued port casks for a further five years.
The result is a deeply resonant rum laden with dark, spicy character, yet perfectly balanced with a warming fruitiness.
